Materials Manager

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures timely deliveries, minimize stock outs and reduces inventory carrying cost.
- Ensures apt inventory management & control
- Ensures that the contract management is done effectively and with efficient tender processes.
- Improves material planning & forecasting.
- Ensures Vendor development, vendor engagement & vendor evaluation.
- Optimizes the ‘process, product & people’ wherever possible.
- Introduces e-procurement & online auction models in system where ever possible.
- Plans all Operational & Capital Requirements.
- Optimizes existing supply chain by identifying Critical Control Points.
- Co-ordinates with user departments.
- Ensures that all high value operational items are contracted.
- Derives meaningful inferences from several reports generated.
- Optimum utilisation of the duty free licenses.
- Is responsible for removal/ disposal of scrap as per rules & guidelines.
- Responsible for extensive freight comparisons, mode analysis, payment options, demand collation, demand forecasting and delivery patterns for better logistical planning.
- Ensures that budgeted RMC is met & improved.
- Liases with various government agencies, Excise and Sales tax authorities.
- Ensures annual visists to the sites and execute audits.
- Imports in accordance to the trade agreements with countries (free trade, bilateral trade etc) and Duty free scripts to achieve best possibe landed cost.
- Reviews audit findings – Safety/Hygiene and TPAM (Taj Positive Assurance Model) and takes corrective measures to ensure full compliance.
- Prepares the internal audit checklists as per the IHCL Safety Guidelines.
- Adheres to all departmental legal compliances.
- Ensures that the terms of the Operating agreement with Partners are duly complied with in all respects.
- Partners with Human Resources to develop departmental workforce plans, hiring schedule, interview and select candidates that demonstrate the TATA and IHCL values along with core functional expertise. Assign buddies to new team members and monitor the progress of departmental induction.
- Sets department and sub-department goals which is in line with the hotel and department strategies. Communicate goals, conduct Q-Chats (quarterly performance reviews), analyse performance and provide relevant input for training programs.
- Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Ensures disciplinary procedures and documentation, adhering to the standards of Tata Code of Conduct and values of IHCL.
- Identifies departmental and individual training needs, develops training calenders, conducts training and recommends suitable training programs to address individual capability gaps. Participate in certification of team members in key skills. Ensures self and direct report managers attend appropriate core training classes.
- Creates a culture of recognition by actively participating in the STARS (Special Thanks and Recognition System) Program.
- Creates a culture of ‘Trust, Awareness and Joy’ by conducting departmental meetings, reviewing V-Connect feedback, drawing and implementing suitable action plans.
- Identifies risks and develops HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment).
- Adheres to roles and responsibilities pertaining to safety as defined by the hotel from time to time as per the PCM (Progressive Consequence Management) SOP and IMBC (Incident Management and Business Continuity.
