Job Purpose

  • This role is very critical in today’s scenario. The role includes (but not limited to) handling of multiple cluster warehouses & their efficient operations for all categories
  • The position handles Circle Warehousing and Logistics Operations (Capex, Opex/Marcom and SRN).
  • Responsible for efficient Materials management (network equipment, Tradable, Marcom) and warehousing excellence to support network expansion and make best supply chain delivery of Tradable and Marcom to entire geography of Circle
  • Responsible for management of the WH, SRN (including Repair/Return), Opex (Sales & Marketing), and all Zonal warehouses in line with organization policies
  • Now with fast changing technology (2G,3G,4G, 5G) there is lot of action on network swap and efficient site return management. While rendering efficient logistics (forward & reverse) and warehousing the position also focuses on value engineering opportunities
  • The key job purpose of the role is to have complete monitoring, control, reconciliation and reporting on the warehouse(s) and their inventories by adhering to the highest levels of warehouse standards on all aspects (i.e., warehousing, housekeeping, safety and security, scrap disposals etc.).
  • A custodian of huge company assets, complex operations and handling of large 3PL workforce (40+)

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

This position is an active enabler in the following key deliverables-

  • Support Huge network roll out and help telecom network modernization as per business plan
  • Efficient SCM of tradable (distribution) to support Revenue generation (Kitting to Delivery). No stock outs can be afforded in the trade, in full delivery of POP and Merchandising items to enhance brand visibility

Warehousing-

The role requires handling of end to end warehouse management of multiple warehouse(s) in the cluster for Network, Opex (SIMs), Marcom (PoS etc.). The role has to cater to important deliverables by maintaining minimum cost, high efficiency, safety and 100% compliance to HSW

  • Managing huge Network roll-out, swap activity, consolidation of network, huge SRN transactions and scrap disposals
  • Maintain strict inventory controls and minimum Warehouse Residency to ensure high Inventory Turnover Ratio (ITR).
  • Handle multiple local transporters (sometimes politically influenced) and local unions to ensure optimum & timely availability of HSW compliant vehicles for network roll-out
  • Most of the workforce (going upto 50+ numbers per Circle) is less educated (low skilled and/or semi-skilled labours), still the position needs to support timely network roll out and efficient tradable supply chain.
  • Continuous engagement of Drivers, labourers through Trainings, team development & motivation
  • Often serves calls beyond duty due to business urgencies from user functions
  • Warehouse operations for minimum 6 days a week (and sometimes even on Sundays to meet the business requirement) – almost 12-14 hours a day
  • Space Management (manage more in less)
  • Ensure appropriate stock of SIMs to support business growth
  • Short notice from Sales team to organize Sim Kitting and dispatches of Tradable (which are the main source of revenue)
  • GST compliance for stock transfer, market dispatches, reverse logistics, SRN, Swap and Scrap
  • Most importantly this position manages the physical area, assets, labours, 3 PLs on ground and all the time supports business growth.
  • Interacts with senior team members of network, marketing, sales and retail functions to coordinate and manage warehousing and logistics

Inventory Controls-

  • Tracking warehouse performance KPIs & improvement plans
  • Provide visibility of inventory to user teams for effective deployment and monitoring in cluster
  • Coordinate with Network & SSC for operations and reconciliation aspects of NSS (Network Stock Solution)
  • Manage reporting, compliances and interface for auditors and ensuring any supporting required for audit and any issues are addressed in timely manner
  • Conduct internal audits to assure VIL processes and standards, pertaining to Good Receipt (GRN)/ Goods Issue (GI)/ Compliance / HSW etc.

Logistics-

  • Managing the primary logistics in close coordination with the category manager in commercial (i.e., movement of materials from vendor factories, import ports to multiple warehouse in the cluster) at minimum costs
  • Ensuring timely availability of HSW compliant vehicles & drivers to ship network equipment from warehouse(s) to sites and thereafter return of swap/switched-off equipment’s packed (in good condition) back to warehouse from sites
  • Transportation Efficiency – Optimize the secondary transportation routes, loads and frequency and thereby reduce the overall transportation spend
  • Route planning and monitoring material movement to multiple sites and other clusters
  • Movement of tradable i.e., SIM/POP to distributors, retailers and other zonal locations through a team of couriers
  • Co-ordinate with TPL vendors and validation of their performance and invoices
  • Driving and Implementation of Intelligent Transport & Courier Management System (ITCMS) to ensure greater controls, compliances and keep a check & tight control on logistics cost

Warehouse Safety, Security & Audits-

  • Ensure 5S in warehouse
  • Drive safety initiatives & awareness programs in warehouse
  • Compliance to Record keeping
  • Routine audits
  • Stock count, Monthly reconciliation
  • Any other audits being recommended from time to time

Health Safety Well-being (HSW) Warehouse Management-

  • Ensuring HSW compliance in Warehouse
  • Conduct Monthly Audits at Warehouse
  • Ensure 100% vehicle and driver inspection
  • Training – in-house and to contractors/drivers

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

  • High level of Integrity, ethics and other value systems
  • Strong Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain management (Warehousing & Logistics)
  • Ability to manage multiple senior stake holders/Vertical Heads
  • Excellent coordination skills and ability to deal with transporters, unions & uneducated labourers
  • Ability to work long hours and in extreme weather conditions (in warehouse) and emergency situations
  • Good communication, presentation, excel skills, MIS, and experience on ERP

Technical / professional qualifications

  • BE preferably with MBA
  • Background in Warehousing, Logistics and Supply Chain
