Basic Function

The Procurement Lead & Sustainability Manager has ownership responsibility for the APS Sustainability and Procurement Strategy for the AFMEI region. The position actively supports the AFMEI Commercial, Technical and Manufacturing Organizations in their consistent execution of the sustainability and procurement strategy. The role is accountable for managing direct materials and staff in India to achieve best in class procurement performance; managing contracts in area of responsibility including sourcing plans, change management; and establishing a Portfolio Sustainability Assessment (PSA) roadmap targeting a more sustainable product portfolio.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • The role is accountable for coordination and management of certifications; lead APS platform development projects and lead Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) on the portfolio .
  • Manages and develops team to become “best in class” to provide timely acquisition technical services & materials related at lowest total cost of ownership within specified time frame
  • Establishes and owns the sustainability strategy for APS AFMEI, and supports key stakeholders in translating these consistently across the functions and regions into action plans while also supporting each stakeholder in their execution of the plans
  • Works closely and collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop and grow external stakeholder relationships throughout the Sustainability Chain, including with raw material suppliers, service providers, OEMs, Customers and other industry affiliates.
  • Provides industry analysis and represents APS externally in industry sustainability associations ensuring that APS interests are represented as it relates to policy developments on sustainability
  • Ensures high ethical standards are met by self and the organization within area of responsibility
  • Develops, implements, and manages innovative commodity strategies on a regional scale using 7 step strategic sourcing process.
  • Responsible for leading negotiations of strategic spend. Leverages strong knowledge of supply and demand fundamentals to drive lowest total life cycle cost.
  • Develops model sourcing contracts to allow standardization of sourcing activities, manage company risk, and obtain maximum value.
  • Maintains focus on value added activities and able to identify and implement alternative innovative, and creative solutions to drive lowest total cost of ownership. Capable of balancing cost saving opportunity with risk mitigation
  • Implements measurement systems that clearly indicate the performance level of the sourcing strategy and supplier effectiveness. Maintains focus on added value, lowest total “life cycle” cost and cost savings.
  • Familiar with ISO-9001 and IATF-16949 requirement regarding overall supplier management and execution for daily operation. Support Site for 3rd party and customer audits.
  • Play a prominent role with hands-on involvement in project management, business interpretation, stakeholder communication; and will champion continual modernization of process and technology capabilities
  • Responsible for Procurement reporting and project management digitalization on VEP, RMQ, Ariba,and APS margin optimization digital tool execution. Build out and ramp-up India-based CoE team (fully dedicated resources for LYB Procurement Global) and create a talent pipeline for Procurement and competencies, partner with internal and external stakeholders, and spearhead the prioritization of high-value yielding opportunities to build the next generation of commercial and operational capability.
  • Responsible for steering and cultivating strategic vendor partnership to enable value driven solution implementations.

  • Provide support for Sustainability and Procurement activities including the following and any additional activities assigned by the supervisor.
  • Develop APS AFMEI sustainability business plan, understand the regional policies for the mandates as well as the customer needs, identify the right resources and partner to fulfill the business plan
  • Drives significant and/or complex sourcing activities with focus on generating value, understanding total cost of ownership, and focus on lowest total life cycle costs. Negotiates and implements major supplier contracts on AFMEI /APAC or global scale; manages major supplier relationships and their performance.
  • Representing APS to collaborate with O&P and CLCS to align the growth path for sustainability strategy in the region
  • Collaboration with APS global sustainability manager to align the regional sustainability strategy into the APS global initiatives
  • Aligning with the business managers, set up the pricing strategy, TCM1 target for each segment for the existing / potential business
  • Be the “Face-of-Procurement” and the main contact for our stakeholders Business, Mfg, PAD, Product Stewardship, HSE on the qualification of new products or suppliers for AfMEI.

Min. Qualifications

Education:

  • University or equivalent in business or technical subject.
  • Bachelor or Master degree e.g. in marketing, supply chain, business administration or Industrial/ Chemical/Engineering
Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in marketing, sales, business development position
  • Good technical understanding of polymers for plastics in AFMEI. Good understanding on the customer’s sustainability requirement in the regional as well as the upstream resources availabilities, having the ability to transfer the market dynamics into the initiatives for APS
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to apply the concepts of general business systems, personnel management, team dynamics, purchasing management, concepts of strategic planning and sourcing, performance measurements, and management through systems at local teams and sites.
  • Strong leadership skills and people management experience, Business acumen,

Drive for results and strives for excellence, Impact and influence, Strategic thinking
Confilct Management and strong negotiation skill set.

Skills:
1. Project management to get things done with many independent stakeholders
2. Technical skills to understand assets and their constraints, and product properties and
fundamental scientific principles.
3. Background in mergers, acquisitions or divesture activities a plus.
4. Strong Procurement & supply chain knowledge including use of MRP and other ERP supply chain functionality.
5. Team coaching experience; advance negotiation skill
