Job Description

  • Should possess a good combination of technical knowledge, team coordination skills and industry experience. Experience in the shipbuilding industry is preferred, but not mandatory.
Role and Responsibility
 
The duties of the ASST .MANAGER are as follows:-
 
  • Fitting/installation/Commissioning new Material Handling/ lifting equipment such as cranes, hoists and rigging equipment. Start up and operation of above mentioned equipment
  • Maintenance, identifying defects and repairing electrical and mechanical faults and repair/replacement of defective parts of above mentioned equipment.
  • Periodic checks and inspections of equipment/systems.
  • Awareness and compliance to safety regulations and practices.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment where conditions may vary from project to project.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for lifting accidents or equipment failures, including procedures for evacuation, first aid, and incident reporting.
Technical Knowledge
 
  • Should possess in-depth technical understanding of lifting equipment, procedures and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards such as OSHA, ISO and maritime regulations.
  • Understanding of different types of materials commonly used in shipbuilding, such as steel plates, sections, and prefabricated modules.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and inspection procedures relevant to lifting operations in shipbuilding and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and procedures to ensure the integrity of lifted components.
Experience in Shipbuilding
 
  • Previous experience working in the shipbuilding industry is preferred.
  • Understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of lifting operations in shipyards, including working with large and heavy components.
Team Coordination Skills
  • Should be able to communicate and coordinate effectively with various teams involved in lifting operations, including engineers, riggers, and crane operators.
  • Should have the ability to lead and motivate team members, providing clear instructions and guidance.
  • Should be able to solve problems and address challenges that may arise during lifting operations.
  • Should be able to manage multiple lifting projects simultaneously, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Attention to detail to ensure that lifting operations are conducted efficiently and according to specifications.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to ensure that lifting activities align with overall project timelines and goals.
Continuous Improvement Mind-set
  • Should be able to stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices related to lifting operations and identifying areas for improvement in lifting processes.
  • Should have the ability to conduct post-project evaluations to learn from successes and failures and apply those lessons to future projects.
