Head Logistics

• The role is for heading logistics for the paint business and need to take care of forward supply chain right after Stock transfer order(STO) creation to ensure vehicle placements at plants and delivering the finished goods at required depots / RDCs (regional distribution centres).
• Day to day operational engagement with transporters is taken care by local plant dispatch teams, the role needs to ensure vehicle placement in case of any gaps
• Stakeholder management of transporters, other internal stakeholders etc hence are very important for smooth operations
• The role drives logistics cost reduction through BOLT model (buy at least price, operate efficiently, load more and travel less). Annual budgeting to execution of the cost within budget are key requirements
• Ensure the logistics SOPs and systems are in place
• Apart from logistics operations, the role will take care of proposed regional distribution centres – from setting them up to operations of the same. Depot operations are currently handled by sales team and is not in scope for this role
• The role needs to drive improvements in operations and also lead and bring new technology, changes for more efficient and sustainable operations

KRA’s:

• Develop and drive the Logistics policy, processes and strategy in line with the business.
• Create the annual logistics plan and strategy to ensure that the team achieves the goals in line with organizational goals.
• Systematically cascade Logistics goals to every individual in the team.
• Build a system to track & assess logistics cost to maintain strict control over spends.
• Make sure seniors are informed/updated about the status of cost including overruns / underruns.
• Complete every logistics milestone and the consequently the entire project within the budgeted cost.
• Set up internal liaisons to ensure timely logistical initiatives occur at most economical costs.
• Monitor inventory to maintain the balance between too few and too many products
• Keeping track of best practices and trends in the field of logistics and bringing best practices on board to benefit the organization.
• Monitoring existing processes and analysing observations to continuously think of better ways to perform it.
• Encourage the team to audit, analyse and review every process and bring about changes in logistics.
• Perform evaluations and reference checks to ensure superior quality of vendors within budget while sourcing them.
• Manage vendors to ensure smooth and timely execution of logistics by effectively tackling matters related to timely and safe delivery of material.
• Conduct regular reviews with vendors, and sort any issues/ grievances to ensure smooth execution of projects.
• Facilitate correct and timely vendor payment
• Drive the timely circulations and awareness of all logistics related trends, rules and processes.
• Conceptualise Departmental Meets to promote knowledge sharing regarding new updates in logistics trends, available solutions whilst driving culture of recognizing performance, talks by external experts from the logistics domain to drive adoption and discuss issues
• Hiring best talent in logistics, developing and engaging them.
• Building high performance culture and conversations in teams.
• Build strong talent pipeline for key roles in the team.
• Setting up RDCs and taking care of operations
• Ensure Warehouse SOPs implementation
• Ensure vehicle placement from RDCs to depots and materials delivered on time
