Sourcing Manager

 Location : Pune, Maharashtra, India


                

Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and oversee sourcing and procurement strategies for India and Southeast Asia.
    • Monitor and assess supplier performance to ensure high-quality goods and adherence to integrity standards.
    • Achieve significant cost reductions in Southeast Asia through third-party sourcing while increasing procurement volume based on annual business plan.
    • Ensure that purchasing operations adhere to established procedures and meet specified requirements.
    • Manage, lead and coordinate staff activities, including training, development, performance evaluations, hiring, and setting departmental goals.
    • Continuously evaluate department processes, methods, and activities to optimize resource and equipment use.
    • Manage the departmental budget and expenditures.
    • Assist management in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
    • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collaborate with Category Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Regional Procurement teams to identify cost reduction opportunities and enhance the quantity and capability of third-party suppliers.
    • Oversee supplier selection, negotiations, and performance for assigned products to achieve company goals related to cost savings, quality, and delivery targets.
    • Organize and lead cross-functional teams to identify and qualify suppliers through First Article inspections and establish processes for long-term success.
    • Issue and manage Purchase Orders for delivery to NOV’s overseas locations.
    • Communicate market trends and regulatory changes to Category Management and other stakeholders.
    • Report on cost savings and supplier performance metrics and conduct periodic performance reviews with key suppliers to drive improvements.
    • Work closely with Regional Procurement Managers to support local supply chain needs.

Analyze and implement corrective actions for purchase price and job closure variances that exceed defined cost standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree. Emphasis in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
    • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role.

APICS or other relevant certification preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • A Sourcing/Supplier Development/Purchasing background is a key requirement.
    • Overall understanding of the supplier base for heavy manufacturing in India is preferred.
    • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
    • Solid interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
    • Proven Planning, project management and negotiations skills.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Good in Financial skills including cost analysis, make vs. buy decision, inventory control etc.
    • Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business.

  • Extensive experience in sourcing and procurement for forging, casting, and machining commodities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experienced with MRP systems, such as EBS or Oracle Fusion, including report generation from ERP systems.
  • Experience with oil and gas products is preferred but not required.
