Upstream Flow Supervisor (UFS)

3. Job finality & main activities

 

The UFS is the main responsible (at plant level) to define, manage and improve the upstream flows and the service level (ESSR & ISSR) from suppliers (external & internal).

  • Organize and optimize the various procurement /logistics solution with suppliers (both internal & external), applying principles and rules.
  • Promotes the clear definition of logistic parameters and the usage of logistic agreements with the suppliers (external & internal).

o External – Based on Supplier Guide Book (SGB).

§ “Supplier Logistics Offer Profile” and/or “Logistics Terms and Conditions”.

o Internal through Internal Logistic Agreements.

  • Defines new flows to be implemented on the plant.

o Proposes new flow architectures to improve flow performance (Total Cost view)

o New supplier flows or supplier transfers.

o Supports upstream flow definition for OCP Projects implementation.

§ Participates actively on the PPEP and is responsible for the Supply Chain topics.

  • Ensures that Logistic parameters from suppliers are updated and optimized.

o Ensures the material controller has the latest version of the logistic parameters.

  • Monitor supplier supply chain performance (ESSR & ISSR) at the plant-level and reports it (SSRM & New Reporting).
  • Ensures a continuous improvement of supplier service (on-time delivery) to the plant to ensure Customer Satisfaction.
  • Is for each supplier, the single point of contact in the plant on service (on-time delivery) performance issues.
  • Identifies the most impacting suppliers and request/follow-up corrective actions.
  • Escalates to Supply Chain Manager if major/recurring delivery issues are identified (supply chain visibility).
  • Improves the on-time delivery of plant suppliers. Animates the action plan follow-up with external suppliers to improve ESSR & participates on ISSR improvement with internal suppliers.
  • Applies the G8D methodology when required (recurring or critical issues).
  • Checks the effectiveness of the supplier actions.
  • Supports the containment, corrective and preventive actions (only if escalated by material controller).
  • Communicates on critical issues with the other actors of supplier management:

o Supplier leader, SSCME, buyer, material controller, SQE…

§ Escalates to SSCME the critical issues with K&C suppliers.

  • Animate, track & improve the Supplier forecast process.
  • Animates/improves the supplier forecast process, taking into account that is part of the Supply Chain Planning Process (CFS, DRP, MPS, S&OP).

o Communicates with the Production Planner on supplier capacity topics (planning).

o Defines the forecast needs from suppliers.

o Shares forecast information with suppliers.

o Measures and challenges the forecast improvement (accuracy / deviation).

Other activities:

  • Conducts SAM Supply Chain audits with local suppliers and follow action plans (can participate to audits with continental or global suppliers).
  • Contributes to the supplier panel validation launched by the commodity manager (on the supply chain side).

4. Experience and skills

SCM Hardcore 10+ years experience in industrial environment on production control, supply chain or logistics, material planner , vendor development, supplier capacity mapping, Digital SCM experience.

Main skills of the UFS:

  • Fully fluent in English communication.
  • Procurement management
  • Can redesign the procurement logistics system (upstream supply chain flows) for a plant.
  • Can introduce new procurement forms or methods.
  • Can make a supplier performance diagnosis and co-ordinate an upstream flow action plan.
  • Ensures that Schneider’s forecasts are taken into account by the suppliers.
  • Production management
  • Understands production management of the plant in terms of flow organization, scheduling and order launching.
  • Cross-functional partnership / relations
  • Know how to develop cross-function relations and lead change with people.

o Can form close and direct collaborative partnerships with Purchasing, Quality & Manufacturing teams to co-ordinate actions related to supplier performance management.

o Exercises personal leadership to establish and maintain constructive partnership relationships with suppliers (internal and external).

  • Problem analysis
  • Applies simple laws to his/her field (Paretto, etc.).
  • Knows and uses tools enabling analysis of all deviation causes and organization of corrective actions (5W’s, G8D, etc.).
